PTCL Posts Rs. 1.94 billion Profit for the Q2-2010 is a post from: ProPakistani

PTCL logo1 PTCL Posts Rs. 1.94 billion Profit for the Q2 2010Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) today has announced a net profit of Rs. 1.94 billion for second quarter 2010, showing a 31 percent decline from Rs. 2.78 billion recorded in the same period last year.

PTCL half yearly net profit for year 2010-11 stood at Rs. 4.02 billion compared to Rs. 5.35 billion for the preceding year.

President PTCL Walid Irshaid commenting on the results said,

I am pleased to announce that we remained focused on our strategy of positioning PTCL as the leading integrated telecom company in Pakistan providing multiple solutions to business and household market segments and extending vital services to other telecom operators in Pakistan

we remain highly conscious of the fact that our success and growth can only come from satisfied customers and it remains our challenge to provide friendly, seamless and prompt customer's service.

To this end, we endeavor to embark on several new projects intended to bring PTCL closer to the customers.

We strongly believe that PTCL is poised to grow and remain the leading and dominant integrated telecom service provider of choice for customers throughout Pakistan".

Following is the complete press release:

In the first half of the financial year 2010-11, PTCL continued its strategy of innovation and futuristic growth. By developing new sources of income, on the commercial side, the growth momentum of PTCL remained strong in emerging segments of Broadband and Corporate Services.

PTCL remained focused on its strategy by providing multiple solutions to the business and household market segments and extending vital services to other telecom operators in Pakistan.

One of the major highlights of the first half of the current financial year was the launch of IMEWE submarine cable – 13000 kilometer of the most advanced fiber optic submarine cable traveling through three continents to interconnect South Asia to Western Europe. IMEWE along with PTCL's previous two submarine cables namely SMW3, SMW4 holds the status of a backbone for country's telecommunication infrastructure.

Another big achievement was the launch of PTCL's Data Centers in Karachi and Lahore.

PTCL has also worked on the network expansion in the financial year. The Pakistan Internet Exchange (PIE) has been expanded by establishing an international presence. PTCL has also planned expansions in areas, which were not served before through USF subsidy.

PTCL has also been the recipient of the Consumer's Choice Award 2010 for its product EVO.

PTCL EVO NITRO wireless broadband service based on 3G technology has revolutionized the internet experience in the country. In less than a year, EVO has become the country's fast growing wireless broadband network with connectivity and roaming in over 100 cities across.

Conscious efforts were made to further facilitate landline customers by expanding the spectrum of available services and packages. The geographical reach of popular packages was extended to benefit a broader customer base. PTCL further streamlined its pricing strategy to make it more customer focused by offering convenient payment plans.

Besides the already available Pakistan Plus and International Plus packages, regional packages for new areas and local call packages were introduced in certain cities. A positive shift in landline usage was witnessed because of unified rate of Rs.1 per minute on-net calls. Several special promotions were also launched for special occasions.

The management and employees of PTCL remain committed to provide quality services at competitive prices through optimal use of resource for achieving enhanced revenue and greater levels of customer satisfaction as well as improved shareholders' value.

Zardari Secretly Visited UAE to Settle Issues with Etisalat

Posted: 24 Feb 2011 12:17 AM PST

Zardari Secretly Visited UAE to Settle Issues with Etisalat is a post from: ProPakistani

President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari recently had a 2 hours visit to UAE without letting anyone know to speak with the Arabian government for the resolution of dispute and pending payment issues with Etisalat, reported Dawn today without naming any source.

Etisalat is long holding USD 800 million against its 2.6 billion dollar purchase of PTCL's 26 percent shares. Etisalat is apparently holding this money due to disputes with the Pakistan government over legal transfer of land and property titles.

According to Dawn, the outcome of Zardari's visit is very promising. Citing an official, paper claims that Etisalat is likely to pay entire pending amount within few days.

"The dispute between the government and Etisalat over the delay in transfer of some land titles to the PTCL in Sindh had been resolved", noted Dawn.
