The South Bank Show awards, which aims to celebrate the best of British culture and achievement and was rescued by Sky Arts after ITV cancelled the event and accompanying TV coverage, will be held on Tuesday, 25 January, at London's Dorchester hotel.
January's event is being marked by a reworking of The South Bank Show theme tune, Paganini's 24th Caprice, by Lord Andrew and Julian Lloyd Webber, the original composer and performer.
These are the 15th awards and the ceremony will be broadcast 'as live' at 9pm in the evening by the Sky Arts channel. The award for outstanding achievement, announced on the day, will be sponsored by the Dorchester.
Lord Bragg said: 'It's fantastic to see the arts flourishing and there has never been a more important moment to celebrate the breadth and range of talent across the country.'
The TV drama category shortlist includes Misfits, This is England '86 (both Channel 4) and Sherlock (BBC1). The comedy award is contested by Jo Brand's Getting On (BBC4), Rev (BBC2) and Steve Coogan's resurrection of Alan Partridge online for Foster's lager.
The awards span an eclectic range of output, from new theatre plays, dance, classical music and opera, pop music, literature, film and visual arts. This year's winners will receive trophies designed by sculptor Anish Kapoor.
After the awards Sky Arts will be running a series of documentaries on the winners, made by Bragg's production company, Director's Cut, and Sky. Director's Cut will also cover the event.
James Hunt, the acting director of Sky Arts, said: 'They are an institution in the cultural fabric of the UK. We're extremely happy they have found a new home on Sky Arts.'
