3 Places to Compare E-book Prices Posted: 10 Dec 2010 03:44 AM PST With Borders and Barnes and Noble both struggling to keep their brick-and-mortar stores open, the rise of the e-book has never been more evident. These books are more convenient than print books—readable from any smart phone, computer or e-reader–and normally cost less too. With this rise in popularity, several services have appeared to compare prices on e-books, just like their print counterparts. Here are a few of the most promising (so far): 1. LeatherboundLeatherbound.me compares e-book prices for Kindle, Nook and iBook formats. So, this service is ideal for iPhone and iPad users since all three of these formats have free apps. Results display quickly, with Kindle prices generally loading a couple seconds before the Nook and iBook stores. 2. InkMeshInkMesh feels much more familiar than Leatherbound. The homepage is minimalistic, much like Google, while results display is a similar manner as Amazon's, with many different editions of the same book sorted by popularity. Instead of just searching the three major stores, InkMesh searches and compares more than 30. Listings include the range of devices that will work with each listed book type. Besides sorting listings by price, you can also sort by star rating, book language and device type. 3. AddALLAddALL's ebook comparison is no-frills. Results display in a big green table, sorted first by price. Results can be sorted by format, store name, author or title. The site offers the ability to save an e-book's information, but this feature was inoperable during our test. AddALL searches more than 30 e-book stores. Right now, e-book comparison sites are limited. IPhone users will likely be most pleased with Leatherbound; however, e-reader owners will probably appreciate InkMesh and AddALL.
