Computer Tips From A Computer Guy |
Posted: 04 Feb 2011 03:34 AM PST Recently, someone asked me to send a link to my Facebook profile and when I noticed the URL, I thought to myself that it would be nice if it were something different than http://www.facebook.com/aseem1234. At the time I setup Facebook, I really didn't care what the URL looked like and just chose whatever username came into my head. If you're in a similar boat and have a Facebook URL that you want to change to something better, then read on! Luckily, you can actually change the URL for your Facebook profile, but there is a catch. You can only do it ONCE! Yes that's right and very annoying! So if you're going to change it, make sure you won't ever want to change it again later on. Changing the Facebook URL for your profile is basically just changing the username associated with your account. Follow the steps below: Step 1: First log into Facebook and click on Account at the top and then click on Account Settings. Step 2: Now under Settings, go ahead and click on the Change link next to Username. Step 3: Type in the new username you would like to use and then click the Check Availability button. Step 4: If the username is available, you will get a popup message and the option to Confirm the new username: Finally, you will get a message stating the username is updated and giving you the new URL to access your Facebook profile: That's it! It's definitely nice that Facebook gives you the option to change the URL, though it would have been better if you could change it more than once. Enjoy!
