2 Ways to Make Photos Look Old Posted: 15 Jan 2011 03:03 AM PST Most places online photo processors, like CVS and Snapfish, offer online tools to make photos look either Black and White or Sepia Tone. These classic tones make a photo look older, and sometimes, more elegant. There are two online services that can make photos look older than the quick color-change filters offered by the online photo processors. Both apply filters, but with very different results. We chose this photo of an elephant at the Knoxville Zoo as our test. WanokotoWanokoto's page is written entirely in Japanese, so it is unlikely most English speakers would find it without a thorough search. However, its results are great, and Google can translate it through either Chrome or the Translate function of the Google Toolbar. Click the Choose File button in the middle of the page and select the file you wish to make look old. Click the blue button directly under the Choose File button—its text is in Japanese characters if you have not translated the page. If you have translated the page, the button says like an old photograph. Your photo becomes a black and white, slightly faded image, and looks significantly older. Your Old PicYour Old Pic is the place to visit to make your photo look sepia tone, torn and slightly out of focus. Start by clicking Choose File and selecting a photo. Click Upload when finished. The results definitely look old. The filter does the same exact thing to every image, though, down to the tear in the top left corner. So, if you are building an album of old-looking photos, it may be wise to use both of these services to for visual variation. Both services work quickly—only a few seconds are required to transform a photo from modern to ancient.
